Is a 4k Dash Cam Worth It? 

The video you’ll get with a 4k
dash cam is unquestionably clearer and more detailed than what you would get with a lower resolution dash cam; the drawback is that the file sizes are much bigger. 

The larger file sizes of 4k dash
cam footage mean you will need to have a higher capacity storage card.

It’s recommended that you get at least a 64 GB memory card.
Alternatively, you could get a camera that features advanced video compression technology to reduce the size of the video files. The drawback with this feature is that many playback devices are not equipped with the software to be able to read and decompress these file types, so getting a larger Micro SD card remains your best option. 

With that in mind, a 4k dash cam is clearly the best choice if you are able to afford the price difference. The ability to zoom in and enlarge details in the footage without losing image crispness and clarity could make all the difference in the event of an accident or break-in.
